Patrick Morley, in his book I Surrender, writes that the church’s main problem today is in the error “that we think we can add Christ to our lives, but not subtract sin. It is a change in belief without a change in behavior. It is revival without reformation, without repentance.”
As we will learn today, it is only true repentance that leads to salvation, and it is godly sorrow that produces true repentance. In other words, we must mourn over our sinful state and turn from our sins and turn to God through Jesus Christ if we are to be saved by grace. Our repentance then puts us on a one way street where all the pilgrims are heading towards heaven by the power of God.
May God produce true repentance in all of our lives,
