Sometime back the Associated Press carried this dispatch: “Glasgow, Ky.–Leslie Puckett, after struggling to start his car, lifted the hood and discovered that someone had stolen the motor.” That’s a great illustration of the state of Christendom today. It seems someone has stolen the engine. The engine of the church is the Holy Spirit. “Without me” (without My Holy Spirit),” Jesus said “you can do nothing.” But so many of us are trying to do Kingdom work in our own strength, and we are going nowhere.
We begin our study today in the Book of Acts. The book was not given to us just as a history study of the early church. It was given to us for a much greater purpose; to serve as a guide to rediscovering the engine that runs the church: THE HOLY SPIRIT. I don’t know about you, but I want to know how I can fulfill my role in God’s Kingdom with power!!
May God anoint our study today and in the coming weeks as we study this great book and in the process help us to rediscover His power.
