1 Samuel 19 – The Eye of the Tiger

1 Samuel 19 – The Eye of the Tiger

Stephen Olford defined revival as “an invasion from heaven that brings a conscious awareness of God.” I might add to that definition that the conscious awareness of God must bring about a sense of love and holiness, because God is love and He is holy.

In today’s text, Saul is going to send a group of assassins to kill David or bring him back to him so he can kill him. But each time the assassins go to get David, the Spirit of God falls on them, and they are filled with a love and holiness, and they can’t do anything but prophesy. Then Saul goes himself to get David and the same thing happens to him. If God’s Spirit can mellow out a murderer like Saul, just think about what He could do for the American people if He were come upon us today the way He came upon Saul and his messengers. We would have the revival we have all been longing for. This passage should encourage us all to pray for revival in our land; to pray for “an invasion from heaven that brings a conscious awareness of God.”
