1 Corinthians 5:1-13 – Crusin’ for a Bruisin’

1 Corinthians 5:1-13 – Crusin’ for a Bruisin’

To get on a show like “People’s Court” or “Judge Judy,” one must agree in advance to accept the word of the judge as final. When we become Christians, we too agree that the Word of our Judge is final. Therefore, we don’t have the privilege to decide what we think is right of wrong, we accept what God tells us is right or wrong in the Bible.
The Corinthian church didn’t see it that way. They were watering down the Word of God in order to justify sin in the church. Not only that, they were “puffed up” so much about the liberty they had in Christ that they saw it as a license to sin. But their sin had not gone unnoticed by the apostle Paul. He warns them that if they don’t bring discipline into the church, that the whole church will soon become permeated with sin. In effect he tells them, that if they don’t take care of this sin issue, they are “cruising for a bruising!”
May God richly bless our study today in 1 Corinthians,
