William Law in his work A Serious Call to a Devout and Holy Life had this to say about worship, “Would you know who is the greatest saint in the world? It Is not he who prays the most or fasts most; it is not he who gives the most alms, or is more eminent for temperance, chastity, or justice; but it is he who is always thankful to God, who wills everything that God willeth, who receives everything as an instance of God’s goodness, and has a heart always ready to praise God for it.” Law was speaking of a person in whom true worship has been birthed.
In today’s study in Ruth, we learn that true worshipers are not born overnight. It took a lifetime to make Naomi a true worshiper of God. What was true for Naomi is true for most of us. God will take the circumstances and trials of our lives and over time use them to birth sincere worship in our hearts.
May God make true worshipers of us all,
