Someone once said that “the Gospel is just one beggar telling another beggar where to find food.” That’s true. The problem is that once we have been endowed with the riches of Christ, we tend to forget that we were ever beggars. So instead of helping other beggars, we begin to look down on them as being “beyond saving.” Therefore, we pass them by.
As we look carefully at our passage in John today, we will see that we have been given the great privilege and power to help others have their sins forgiven. But by passing people by we see as “un-savable,” we are declaring that their sins be retained.
May God richly bless our study today in John,
