When someone calls me on my cell phone when I’m driving my truck down the highway, I often have to ask them to repeat what they just said. I know I’m getting older and my hearing is probably not as good as it used to be, but there are other factors at work in such situations. There is the highway noise from those big tires on my truck and the engine noise from its sporty exhaust system. Together, they make it very difficult for me to hear what the person on the other end of the line is saying, and I assume what they have to say is well worth repeating, so I ask them to say it again, and again, and again.
The author of Hebrews seems to be telling us the same thing again, and again, and again. Why? Because most Christians are dull of hearing, and what he has to say about the cross and the blood is well worth repeating. Actually, the truths he is trying to get us to understand are essential to living a victorious Christian life in the Holiest of Holies!
