Hebrews 9:11-22 – A Slaughterhouse Religion

Playwright George Bernard Shaw once angrily attacked fundamental Christianity by saying, “It is saturated with the ancient – and to me quite infernal – superstition of atonement by blood sacrifice, which I believe Christianity must completely get rid of, if it is to survive among thoughtful people” (Our Daily Bread, 08/79).
Sorry to tell you George, but Christianity cannot survive without the atonement of blood sacrifice. Because, as we will learn in our text today in Hebrews, “without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins.” Without the remission of sin, no one will ever see God. And the blood can’t be just any blood, it has to be the blood of God Himself!!!!
