As we will learn in today’s lesson, our salvation, sanctification, and glorification are all a matter of life, and no human other that Jesus Christ has the power to impart life. Jesus told his disciples in John 6:63. “It is the Spirit that gives life, the flesh profits nothing.” Therefore, we are saved by the Holy Spirit, we are made righteous by the Holy Spirit, and we will be glorified by the Holy Spirit.
Most of us Christians have no problem believing that we are saved and glorified by the Spirit, but we struggle with practically applying the work of Spirit to our sanctification. We instead seek to be sanctified by the works of the law, but as Paul has told us over and over again in the first part of Galatians, “no one will be justified by the works of the flesh.” It’s a matter of life. We need the life of God to sanctify us, and He will give us His life for that purpose, if we just believe and fully rest in Him!
