Acts 6:1-8 – Of One Accord

Acts 6:1-8 – Of One Accord

In a Peanuts cartoon Lucy demanded that Linus change TV channels, threatening him with her fist if he didn’t. “What makes you think you can walk right in here and take over?” asks Linus. “These five fingers,” says Lucy. “Individually they’re nothing but when I curl them together like this into a single unit, they form a weapon that is terrible to behold.” “Which channel do you want?” asks Linus. Turning away, he looks at his fingers and says, “Why can’t you guys get organized like that?” Charles Schultz.

We laugh. But try making a fist with two fingers. You can’t. It takes all five. And there is power in unity. That’s especially true for the church. We must be of one accord if we are to minister the Word and the Gospel with power. As we will see in today’s lesson the devil is going to do everything he can to keep the church from being unified. But that’s impossible to do when we are full of the Spirit of Christ.

May God bless our study today in Acts,
