In today’s text, we are going to see the great apostle Paul, a man saved by grace and who taught grace, acting like a sourpuss legalist as he refuses to offer grace and forgiveness to John Mark. As a result, his missionary partnership with Barnabas is shattered and they both go their separate ways.
I find great comfort in the fact that a man as great as Paul at the pinnacle of his ministry could lose control and allow his flesh to take over in such a way. How could that happen? Because even the most spiritual of us still have our old nature. Even though we’ve been saved by grace and given the Holy Spirit, the part of us I will refer to today as “the wild frog” (the flesh) hangs around with us until glory. But in spite of that serious flaw in our character, God still can use us in mighty ways just as He did Paul.
May God encourage you today with His word,
