3 John – Don’t Mess with God’s Anointed

In today’s text, we’ll run across a “seedy” character, a preeminent pastor named Diotrephes, who refuses to receive some mission workers recommended by the apostle John himself. Not only does he reject these missionaries, he has the gall to speak maliciously against John. By his bad treatment of these missionaries and his harsh words against John, Diotrephes endangers himself by violating a directive given to all of us in the Word of God: “We are not to touch God’s anointed or do harm to His prophets (Psalms 105:15).” We’ll discuss the ramifications of ignoring that precept in today’s lesson.
