A dairy farmer once said, “The hardest thing about milking cows is that they never stay milked.” Along those lines, you could say that the hardest thing about being a Christian is that our work is never done. There will always be someone who needs to hear about the Lord or someone who needs to be discipled.
In our text today, David had taken a respite to thank the Lord for the tremendous ways in which he had been blessed, but as we come to chapter eight, it’s time for him to get back to work, and that’s what he does in the strength of the Lord.
It’s hard sometimes to leave those mountaintop experiences and go back down to the valley to do the Lord’s work, but God has created us and redeemed us to serve Him by helping others. May we all be encouraged by David’s example to go in the strength of the Lord and do His bidding and walk in the works which He has ordained for us to do!
