I’m sure you have heard the story about the quality control guy who got fired from the M & M candy manufacturing plant because he kept throwing away the “W”’s. That man was a fool, much like many of the characters in today’s lesson in 2 Samuel. A fool has been defined by some as a person who never learns from his mistakes or the mistakes of others.
Abner was a godless man who lived the life of a fool, and therefore, he died unnecessarily. The greatest mistake any man or woman can make is to live life outside the will of God. Self-willed people are playing the fool and are in danger of dying the death of a fool.
