1 Samuel 23 – Fair Weather Friend

1 Samuel 23 – Fair Weather Friend

William Tyndale was the first man to translate the Hebrew and Greek Bible into English. But it cost him his life. In 1536, he was burned at the stake for his efforts to put the Bible into the hands of the common man. The really sad thing is that he was turned over to the authorities by one he thought to be one of his closest friends. But the man really wasn’t a friend at all, he was what we call “fair-weather friend.”

David had lots of “fair-weather friends.” These friends loved him when things were going good, but when trouble came they forsook him. All of us have at one time or the other had relationships with “fair-weather friends.” By observing David’s interaction with his friends in today’s study, we will learn some important lessons on just how we are to deal with our “fair-weather friends.”
