Human beings are prideful creatures. We love to bask in our own glory. But as someone once discerningly said, “God wisely designed the human body so that we can neither pat ourselves on the back nor kick ourselves in the rear.” (Guideposts).
After Saul was anointed and coronated as the king of Israel, he probably was more than ready to pat himself on the back instead of giving the glory to God. But God’s not going to give him the chance. After the coronation, He will send Saul back home without even a palace to live in.
God often gives His people a great victory or honor. But not so we will become prideful, but so that He will be glorified!
