Jerome once said that whenever John addressed a congregation he always closed by saying, “Little children, love one another.” When someone asked him why that was always the way he ended his messages, John responded by saying, “Because it’s the Lord’s commandment, and this only, if it is done, is enough!”
It’s almost as if John was echoing the title of the Beatle’s hit song from the 60’s: All You Need Is Love. But as we will see in our study today, John’s message about love is totally different from that of the Beatles and other popular artists who have sung about the subject. John was speaking of the supernatural agape love that the people of this world know nothing of without regeneration by Jesus Christ.
