1 Corinthians 14:6-31 – Is This Church?

If we look honestly in our text at how Paul prescribed the order of worship for the Church at Corinth, it should cause us to question just how we do church today in the 21st Century. John Calvin in his time realized that the church had strayed from her original way of operating and had returned to her liturgical roots in Judaism. He said this: “To return to the ceremonies which are abolished is to repair the veil of the temple which Jesus Christ rent on his death. A multitude of ceremonies in the Mass is a form of Judaism quite contrary to Christianity. But even some of the things in Protestantism today are similar to the things in Judaism.”
So as we examine 1 Corinthians 14, let’s keep an open mind and ask ourselves, “Are we all involved in the service to the degree we should be?” “Are we doing church as it was meant to be?” “If not, what can we do make our church services more like what God
intended them to be?”
