In today’s lesson in Hebrews, we are going to be looking at a man and woman of faith who, even though they were greatly blessed as pilgrims on this earth, desired a better country in another world. Hymnist Henry Francis Lyte described such feelings as follows:
It is not for me to be seeking my bliss
and building my hopes in a region like this;
I look for a city which hands have not piled,
I pant for a country by sin undefiled.
Like Sarah and Abraham, we should hold on to the blessings of this earth lightly, and cling hard by faith to the hope we have that other world we know as heaven.
