Kamand Kojouiri in his book The Eternal Dance penned these words by the main character when he encountered an angel: “I couldn’t have dreamed you into existence because I didn’t even know I needed you. You must have been sent to me.” I’m sure Jacob had similar thoughts when he encountered a camp of angels as he was about to return into the Promised Land. The angels he saw weren’t some beings he just dreamed up; they were sent to him by God Himself. Today we will look at Jacob’s meeting with these angels at Mahanaim and in the process of our study, we might even learn something about our own encounters with the angels of God.
