Today we will be looking at the story in Genesis 25 in which Esau clearly “despised his birthright”– and at what a great cost! In the postlude to this story the Lord says in Romans, “Jacob I have loved, and Esau I have hated.” Did that mean that Esau’s fate was set before he was born, no matter what choices he made? No!. God hated Esau because he foreknew that Esau would hate him.
A lot of people who teach prophecy will tell you that the fate of the United States is set. We are doomed! But even though God knows what’s going to happen to America, our fate is not set. As we examine how God worked in Esau’s and Jacob’s lives, we can learn how we can play a part in changing the future history of this nation.
