Genesis 13 – The Altar at Bethel

Genesis 13 – The Altar at Bethel

In today’s study in Genesis 13, we will see Abraham return to the altar he had built earlier at Bethel, and there he will call upon the name of the Lord. Bethel lies almost at the very center of Israel, and the name of the city means, “the house of God.” So no doubt Abraham’s return to Bethel is symbolic of him being at the center of God’s will at the house of God. And there he will call upon the name of the Lord, and the Lord will answer him and renew his calling. This is a very important lesson, because we can learn some things about hearing from the Lord from Abraham’s experience at the altar at Bethel.
