1 Thessalonians 5:12-18 – Blessings in Disguise

1 Thessalonians 5:12-18 – Blessings in Disguise

One morning RC Chapman was asked how he was doing and he responded, “I’m burdened this morning!” But he spoke those words with a happy countenance. So he was questioned, “Are you really burdened Mr. Chapman? You seem so full of joy this morning.” Chapman replied, “I’m burdened because I have an overabundance of blessings for which I cannot find enough time or words to express my gratitude to the Lord!”

In today’s text, Paul is going to give us three keys to opening the door to a powerful Christian life: 1) Rejoice always 2) Pray without ceasing 3) Give thanks in everything. The only way we can do these three things is if we see life as Chapman saw it as an overabundance of blessings. And the only way we can view life in that manner is if we learn to recognize our hardships and trials as also being blessings-blessings in disguise!
