Jesus said in Matthew 10:16, “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; therefore, be ye wise as serpents and as gentle as doves.” That seems to be a suicidal mission that Jesus gives His followers, because sheep don’t stand much of a chance against a pack of wolves. But even sheep are “more than conquerors” when the Lord is with us.
In today’s text, Jude will warn us about heretics (wolves) who have crept in among us–sent by the devil to destroy the flock. And Jude doesn’t tell us to run, but to contend with these wolves in order to preserve the true faith that has been given to us. We will learn how we do that today.
