1 Thessalonians 1:1-3 – A Hope That is Real

1 Thessalonians 1:1-3 – A Hope That is Real

O.S. Marden once wrote, “There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow!” But for a realistic expectation of a better tomorrow, one must have a hope that is real.

The church at Thessalonica was facing extreme persecution from both the Jews and the Romans, and so Paul wrote 1 and 2 Thessalonians in order to give them a real expectation of a better tomorrow based upon the real hope of the Rapture and 2nd coming of Jesus Christ. We certainly aren’t facing the kind of persecution the Thessalonians were, but we are living in the age of the apostate church. And I don’t know of a better medicine for what ails us than a hope that is real—a hope in the Rapture and 2nd Coming of our Lord.
